Podcast Interviews

Interview with the
American Small Business League
Xavier Carrigan joined the American Small Business League Podcast to discuss his campaign for Congress in Iowa’s 3rd District and his commitment to bringing a working-class voice to Washington.

In the interview, Carrigan explains what motivated him to run for office, including the impact of U.S. foreign policy decisions on his family, his half-Persian background, and his belief that politics as usual has failed working people. He outlines key priorities such as Medicare for All, ending student loan debt, defending women’s rights, and confronting corporate power.

The conversation also focuses on small business issues, including federal contracting reform and the need to ensure women-owned small businesses receive fair access to government contracts as part of a broader push for economic justice and real representation.

Interview with Bleeding Heartland
Xavier Carrigan spoke with Laura Belin of Bleeding Heartland shortly after launching his campaign for Congress in Iowa’s 3rd District.

In the interview, Carrigan discusses his background, what brought him to Iowa, lessons from his first congressional run, and why he believes working-class candidates should not be locked out of federal office. He outlines core priorities including Medicare for All, clean water, raising the minimum wage, ending student loan debt, and rejecting corporate and billionaire influence.

Carrigan also addresses government accountability, term limits, opposition to half-measures in policymaking, and his commitment to running a fully grassroots campaign rooted in direct engagement with voters.

Community Vigil & Solidarity
for Renee Good

KCCI documented the Central Iowa vigil held on January 10, 2026, as the community stood alongside people across the nation and around the world to honor Renee, who lost her life during a federal ICE operation on January 7, 2026. The gathering followed just days after her passing and brought people together to mourn her death and to protest the use of lethal force by ICE, while raising broader concerns about accountability in federal immigration enforcement.

Renee Good was remembered not only for her life, but for the courage she showed in the face of intimidation. Those who gathered reflected on her willingness to stand firm and act according to her convictions when confronted by overwhelming power. Her resolve resonated far beyond her own community.

Rest In Power, Renee.
